This 5th season of Big Brother started the same as BB4, the HMs went into the House night before the live TV launch. It started on May 7, 2005 when the HMs went in and aired on Ch10 from May 8, 2005 and ended on August 15, 2005. It ran for 100 days.

Fines:
This series, the Prize Money was $1million again. There was a twist though, it was the introduction of Fines handed out to the HMs. They were fined $5,000 every time they broke a major rule of the house, these included; discussing nominations with other HMs, not giving a good enough reason for nominations and for not wearing microphones. This led to a rather large amount of fines by the end of the series. At the end of the series the final 4 HMs got to compete in Friday Night Games against Big Brother, where they could win back the money they'd lost through fines. They managed to win back $836,000.

The Twins:
Another twist was Twins being put into the house, but as a single person. The 'Logans' (Logan Greg and Logan David) were told they would go under the name 'Logan' and frequently swap places in a hidden room in the house where they would change clothes and the other twin would go back into the house looking exactly like his brother, while the other twin remained hidden in a self contained room until the next swap. Their task was to go 2 weeks without being discovered by other HMs. If they passed this task, they would get to be in the house as two different people. If they failed the task, then they would both be in the house as 1 person, meaning that if one was evicted, the other was too. Their task came undone when one of the twins cut himself on the shoulder after falling into a mirrored wall when playing with a ball in the backyard. They were discovered by fellow HM Glenn, after he asked to see the wound on 'Logans' shoulder, but after trying to evade Glenns curiousness, it was accepted by Big Brother that they failed their task. They were then both introduced to the other HMs as Greg and David and they became one person, this included nominating as one person.

Later on in the series, Big Brother decided to hold a special Eviction Show where one of the Twins was evicted after HMs were told to vote for which one they wanted to stay. David ended up being the one who was evicted and Greg was allowed to stay in the house. When Greg became the last HM to be evicted and won the series, he shared the Prize Money with David equally.

HMs must be Single - Some HMs lied to get in:
Part of the audition process and requirements for this series was that each HM had to be single. However it was discovered early in the show within the first week that 3 HMs had lied to Big Brother. Constance openly told fellow HM Nelson that she had a boyfriend on the outside and Nelson also said he was attached. The 3rd HM, Dean, was confronted by Big Brother hours before entering the house and Dean admitted to being in a relationship. The 3 HMs had lied to Big Brother and 2 had taken their partners into lockdown with them saying they were only friends. After openly saying they were in relationships meant they had broken their contract and all 3 were nominated for Eviction by Big Brother. The public were given a chance to vote two of them out and Nelson and Constance were evicted and no prizes given to them. Dean survived evictions until after the Intruders were even evicted, but when he was evicted the issue was brought up again. When about to give Dean the evictee prizes, Gretel asked the crowd if he should receive them, Big Brother told Gretel that because he survived so long he should receive the prizes. This let to much contraversy.

Rewards:
The introduction of the Rewards Room (RR)was in this series. The HM who won the Friday Night Games, got to choose another HM to spend 2 days and 2 nights in the RR with. The only people allowed in the RR were those two HMs. They also got special food and luxuries in the RR which made some other HMs jealous but gave them something to aim for every week during the games.

- Constance Hall - Evicted Day 10 - Got kicked off the show for lieing to BB, after a public vote.

- Nelson Russell - Evicted Day 10 - Got kicked off the show for lieing to BB, after a public vote.

- Angela Aiken - Evicted Day 15 - Unknown what she has been doing since BB.

- Janie "Gianna" Pattison - Evicted Day 22 - Gianna is the one who did everything, and tried to sell her Nurses uniform on ebay... did anyone buy it ? let us know if you've heard.

- Michael Farnsworth - Evicted Day 29 - The big bald guy with a ring through his nose, who got in trouble for doing something very bad in the house which led to the fuss about BB Uncut, being taken off air.

- Michelle Carew-Gibson - Evicted Day 36 - Appeared in Ralph after the show.

- Rachael Burns - Entered Day 25 - Evicted Day 43 - Entered as a replacement HM along with Vesna. Rachel caused minor contraversy in the house and created very funny moments when she made Tim feel very incomfortable while they were in the Rewards Room, where she was taking a bath and all Tim could manage to do was eat snacks and try to watch the Plasma screen. - Geneva Loader - Evicted Day 50 - One of the girls that Glenn got it on with in the house. She also revealed while in the house that she is bisexual.

- Glenn Dallinger - Evicted Day 57 - He was known simply as 'Shearer' due to his job as a Sheep Shearer. He had a relationship with Michelle in the house, but after she was evicted, Michelle was shown footage of Glenn saying that now she's gone he may as well have a crack at one of the other girls in the house. Glenn appeared on Friday Night Games (a spin off from 'Friday Night Live' hosted by BB Uplate's Mike Goldman, Bree and Fryzie from BB4) with other celeb's prior to BB6 starting.

- Heath Tournia - Entered Day 53 - Evicted Day 59 - Entered as an Intruder along with Rita and Melanie. Heath was given a strike by Big Brother after acting in a bad manner towards Rita. Heath was evicted after the HMs voted on which Intruder they wanted to stay in the house.

- Simon 'Hotdogs' Deering - Evicted Day 64 - He gave himself the nickname and was remembered for his continued arguments with Vesna while in the BB house, who he shares a house with currently. The day after BB5 ended, hotdogs was hosting his own Game Show, 'The Uplate Game Show', which has had various guests from BB6 on it. He was also arrested in Cairns after performing an indecent act in public. His show was last on air in late 2006.

- Dean Glucina - Evicted Day 71 - He almost got kicked out with Constance and Nelson for lieing to BB.

- David Mathew (Logan David) - Evicted Day 74 - David was evicted after HMs voted on which twin they wanted to keep in the house the most. He ended up sharing the prize money with his twin brother Greg, who won the series.

- Marissa "Rita" Lazzarotto - Entered Day 53 - Evicted Day 78 - Entered as an Intruder with Heath and Melanie, but became a HM. She's the one who spoke a LOT!.

- Christie Mills - Evicted Day 78 - Was seen at Arias with someone. She was the one who hardly wore any clothes at all in the house. She also appeared in Zoo magazine apparently, with Michelle.

- Richelle "Kate" Benson - Evicted Day 85 - 'Kate' as she was known in the BB house, appeared in Ralph Magazine as well as on the BB Uplate show during BB6.

- Melanie Smerdon - Entered Day 53 - Evicted Day 92 - Melanie entered as an Intruder along with Heath and Rita. She is a promotions model doing some work with V8 Supercars which she talked about during the show. She went back to Promotion Modelling work apparently, after BB5.

- Vesna Tosevska - 3rd place - Entered Day 25 - Evicted Day 99 - Vesna entered the house as a replacement HM along with Rachel. According to Hotdogs when he said on the Uplate Game Show, she and her sister share a house with him at the moment in Melbourne. Vesna and Hotdogs had a bit of a relationship in the house but they also yelled at each other a lot, with Vesna doing most of the yelling. It was quite funny really. She became a favourite of many.

- Tim Brunero - Runner-Up - Evicted Day 100 - Is a writer for some magazine or paper.

- Greg Mathew (Logan Greg) - Series Winner - Evicted Day 100 - Won $836,000 which he split equally with his twin David. They also won cars, mobile phones, money, holidays and in 2006 they became the first twins ever to travel to the North Pole. During BB6, David appeared on BB Uplate with Mike Goldman and showed some footage of their trek to the North Pole. He said Greg was still in Switzerland somewhere at the time.

Special Guest:
The Winner of UK Big Brother 5, Nadia Almada, went into the Australian BB5 house as a special guest on Day 93 and left on Day 95. After Nadia had left, the HMs started discussing the fact that Nadia 'used to be' a man. Nadia played a trick on the HMs during her farewell video by telling them they were the worst HMs she'd ever met. While the HMs were still pondering over her statement, she returned to the screen and the rest of her message was played where she told them she was joking and that she enjoyed her stay immensely and that she loved them all very much. She was given photos of her time in the house and the HMs even made her a special dinner before she left.
